Today is June 19th, 2020 and marks what has come to be known as "Juneteenth". On this day in 1865, Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the civil war had ended and that slaves were now free. Slavery was abolished more than 2 years before but slaves were not told. Today, everyone should give thanks to our great God for bringing to the hearts of men, that no man should be enslaved by another. We praise the Lord today that one of the darkest aspects in American history is now nothing but history. May the Lord bless us all and may God bless America in this time of difficult challenges.
After waking up this morning, I laid in bed thinking of plans that my family is making for this weekend. Included in those plans is a time to show honor to me on Sunday. I thought of my own father who went to be with our great Lord and Savior on October 6th, 1995,. Twenty-five years have passed, yet I still think about him very often. My dad was an "Old - School" strict disciplinarian (some of you would know what that means) and my childhood years with him were not always easy. It was not until I had become older that I appreciated my dad's input in my life. He insisted on good morals, academic success and exemplary behavior. He was a product of his own father and grand-father who emigrated from India to Trinidad in the late 1800's. I too, am therefore a product of my dad's grandfather. His DNA is reflected in mine and in those of my children and grand-children. This father's day, as I receive honor from my offspring, I share that honor with my dad and his lineage, without whom, I would have been someone else. May God be merciful to their souls.
Kindly allow me to wish all the fathers of FHG and fathers everywhere, a Happy Father's Day.
In order to attach yet another installment to our current study of "...at the last trumpet...", I will be temporarily removing the document today. It will be available for your reading and meditation on Sunday morning as the Lord wills.
Everyone enjoy the rest of the day and stay safe in Christ.
