Greetings in the Name of the only One through whom salvation can be gifted.
I hope that all followers of this FHG website are doing well and continuing to worship our great God, albeit apart from our full congregation.
My thoughts for today center around the major current events taking place in our land.
I'm not sure how many of you have been watching the confirmation hearings for judge Amy Coney Barrett, but I have been so entertained by much of it, even at times unable to contain myself from laughing out loud. For example, the senior US senator from Connecticut who happens to be one of the wealthiest members of the senate with a net worth of over $100,000,000 was suggesting to judge Barrett that she should commit to recusing herself from certain cases even before she is confirmed as a supreme court justice. I was disappointed that the governor was in fact suggesting that the judge refrain from ruling on certain issues that may not be favorable for democrats. Furthermore, The governor of Hawaii asked Mrs. Barrett if she ever pressured anyone for sexual favors. This most inappropriate question came out of the clear blue sky with absolutely no context and once again, I couldn't help myself. Every single senate democrat (EVERY SINGLE SENATE DEMOCRAT) was obviously full of angst at the judge while verbally abusing her for fear that she may overturn Roe vs Wade and protect the lives of America's babies. It was clear that these questioners could not bear the thought that the lives of the unborn may in fact, matter. The fear that the judge's Catholic faith may cause her to somehow rule against same sex marriage was also made clear from all senate democrats. I was not surprised by the thoughtless questions asked of the judge but I did regret the caliber of many in the US senate. I finally resigned myself to the happy thought that these senators with their bizarre lines of questioning were deliberately attempting to promote laughter and entertainment, although deep inside I somehow knew that these individuals were in fact, intending to be serious. I look forward to another round of "senate entertainment" in just a few hours.
Secondly, Did anyone see that the Palestinian leadership only two days ago published their support for VP Joe Biden explaining that if Mr. Biden looses, it would mean yet another win for their arch enemy, Israel. Iran immediately echoed the Palestinian sentiment. But we are left to see what God will allow on November 3rd. Since the bible says that it is only our great God who promotes and demotes leadership; as a Christian, I will be very comfortable with whomever is our next President.
Finally, unless there is some sudden spike in COVID numbers here in Southern California, we are planning to reopen FHG on November 1st. Please pray that God permits us to worship Him altogether in His house as planned. Make sure to bring a face mask and be prepared to wear it throughout the duration of the service. As a reminder, our service will
start promptly at 10:00am and deacon JT will be checking the temperature of everyone entering the building.
Looking forward to seeing all of you in three weeks.
