Those of you who know me would appreciate why I would choose to write the following.
There are three instances in the Hebrew bible that make mention of left-handed people. The gory story of Ehud's assassination of the Moabite king in Judges 3: 12 - 30, the 700 Jewish warriors who were able to use the sling with deadly accuracy, in Judges 20: 16 and of course, the two dozen ambidextrous fighters who came to Hebron to support David, 1 Chronicles 12: 2. Please take the time to read these passages.
Much investigative studies on what causes handedness continue to be done. Thus far, the findings remain inconclusive although there is consensus that extremely complex relationships among our genes lead to one hand being dominant. It seems as well that brain dominance influences handedness. The ratio of right-handed to left-handed people in the world is 10:1. That is to say, only about 10% of the worlds' population is left-handed. Some have posited that such a ratio might suggest some level of abnormality or even some kind of brain deficiency. Naturally, I disagree, and would rather believe that left-handedness is a divine gift.
What caught my attention about the three bible passages cited above is that all the lefties mentioned are members of the Hebrew tribe of Benjamin. Even the current Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, who is a Benjamite is also left-handed. Why is that curious?
I am so glad you asked. You see khaverim sheli (my friends), the Hebrew name "Benjamin" means "son of my RIGHT-HAND." So, can we say then that Jewish lefties from the tribe of Benjamin are left-handed right-handers?
