Greetings to all in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In this blog, I am asking that everyone prays for the continuation of US favor towards the land and people of Israel. The bible, in fact, commands us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
Some of you, no doubt, may already be aware of what I am about to explain here, but for those of you who may not have been staying up-to-date with US foreign relations, kindly allow me to share one of my thoughts.
As we rapidly approach US Presidential elections on November 3rd, certain items of interest become increasingly significant. The Democratic party platform is expected to be finalized at the Democratic National Convention scheduled to open in MIlwaukee on August 17. The draft platform rejects Prime Minister Netanyahu's proposal to apply Israeli sovereignty to some settlement areas in Judea and Samaria (The West Bank). Although Vice President Joe Biden, to his credit, has promised to leave the US Embassy in Jerusalem, he, along with his colleagues are calling for the re-instating of the Iran Nuclear Deal, which President Trump pulled out of in 2018. I hope you understand that the Iran Nuclear Deal was not only detrimental to the State of Israel, but provided for the funding of Iran's nuclear program against Israel - the very thing it supposedly was designed to prevent. I am certain that you have also heard the increasingly louder proposal by very vocal elements on the left in the democratic party to defund Israel. You might remember us discussing this at FHG several months ago. Last week, the DNC released a draft of the party's election platform which specifically says the Democrats support Palestinian rights to establish their own State, alongside the State of Israel. This proposal may appear innocent and fair to the majority of Americans, but it ignores critical bible verses containing both promises and warnings. Genesis 12:3, and Joel 3:2 regarding the Lord's view of Israel are abundantly clear. Furthermore, let me remind you that if Palestinian Muslims put down their weapons against Israel tomorrow, there will be peace in the Middle East. but if Israel were to put down her weapons, there will be no Israel.
Ultimately, it is the Lord's will that would prevail in our upcoming Presidential elections, but it would be counter-productive and hypocritical to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the welfare of Israel while supporting measures that are blatantly antisemitic. For those of you who know me, you will understand that my concern is not about who sits in the White House or which political party wins the election. Instead, my interest is in the quality of relationship that my Country is determined to foster with the sons of Abraham.
May we all believe that "He who watches over Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps." - Psalm 121: 4
